Botox Injectables FAQ

How does BOTOX or other neuromodulators work?

BOTOX® Cosmetic tackles the root cause of frown lines, crow's feet, and forehead lines: repetitive muscle contractions from years of frowning, squinting, smiling, and raising eyebrows. During your session, your specialist will inject BOTOX® Cosmetic into these muscles, temporarily reducing their activity. Soon enough, you'll see those frown lines, crow's feet, and forehead lines start to fade away, leaving you with a refreshed appearance.

Who is not a candidate for treatment?

  • Pregnant or Nursing
  • Underlying muscle or nerve disorders
  • Allergies or sensitivity to ingredients in Botox
  • Infection at the site of intended injection
  • Any client with unrealistic expectations!!

Will my face look overdone or unnatural?

BOTOX® (or any other brand of neuromodulator), when you are treated by someone who is licensed, trained, and a medical expert in facial anatomy you can expect great results.  So you’ll look like yourself—only with less noticeable lines. No one should be able to tell you’ve had anything "done".

How much time will the treatment take? Does it hurt?

We will discuss your goals and assess your facial structure to determine the best treatment areas. If you're deemed a suitable candidate, the injection can be done.  Your appointment will be booked for 30 minutes.

Some patients describe the sensation as a slight pinch, but your specialist can numb the area with ice or a topical cream for added comfort. With minimal downtime, you'll be back to your daily routine right after leaving the office."

How long does it last?

Results last upto 4 months for moderate to severe frown lines.

How do I know which type is best for me?

There are different types of neuromodulators.  Botox, Disport, Xeomin and Jeuveau are most common brands.  Your aesthetic injector will discuss the most ideal type for you at your appointment.

All of these injectables involve Botulinum type A as their active compound.

The difference lies within their formulation/molecular structure.  Since they are formulated slightly different, they vary slightly in onset of action, dosage and spread of product.

  • Botox is the original brand of neuromodulators.  Not ideal for those with an egg allergy.

  • Disport requires more product and spreads further.  Not ideal for some areas of the face due to its spreading factor.  Not ideal for those with a lactose allergy.

  • Xeomin is the "purest" form of neurotoxin with no additive proteins.

  • Jeuveau is the most like Botox molecularly in that it is almost identical.

Before Your Appointment:

Getting the most out of your Botox experience starts with proper preparation. By taking the right steps beforehand, you not only enhance the treatment's effectiveness but also ensure a smoother and safer process overall.

  • Aesthetic procedures such as chemical peels, microneedling or laser resurfacing should be avoided for 2 weeks.
  • If you plan to workout, do so before you have the treatment, not after.  You will need to avoid raising your body temperature or working out for 24 hours.

**Results will take about 4 to 7 days to notice.  Maximum result will be around 2 weeks.

How long is the downtime?

There is minimal downtime. So you can return to your daily routine immediately after you leave.  Be sure to read what to expect after your treatment in the "About botox" section.
